Anyone know of a good computer repair company in SA? I have a dell that I think the os crashed. My kid's pics from birth to 9 months are still on there and I need to retrieve them.

I worked for altex for 3 years and am a pc tech if all your worried about is pics the easiest thimg is to pull the harddrive and hook up to another computer with a adapter. If you need any help just shoot me a PM. oh and data recovery normally runs $60-$200 depending if its the drive thats actually bad
thats gonna cost you a fortune
much easier/cheaper way to do it is figure out what type drive it is (ide, pata, sata, etc) then buy an external drive enclosure and just plug it into another computer. this isnt very hard to do at all and should run about $20-40
I've already pulled the drive. I 99% sure it's still good. I was hoping to connect to an external drive like Tony mentioned. Where can I purchase one?

is it ide or sata?
sata is a small connector that looks like this:
ide is bigger and flatter like this:

not too bad on the pocketbook and local and it works with both

It's IDE. I'll make a trip over to alltex this week. Most of the quotes I've gotten have been around $75-$125.
Smalls, thanks for the offer.
