I have 2 10,000 K Compacts and 2 blue actinics... It does a good job in my tank and really brightens it up...Seems to be moderate lighting. My Corlas grow like weeds and the blues make the corals glow. I think the name is Coralife Lunar Aqualight. I got them onsale for $200...They are not as powerful as I wanted, but could not pass up that deal considering they are 6 ft. long. And the lunar lights a really cool at night.

I dont know what fish you keep in your tank but please read and talk to other carpet owners before you get one. Carpets can be a lot of trouble. I have one and well lets just say it has eaten some very expensive fish and not to mention the sea horse. The anemone has doubled in size in the 4 month i have had it. Dont get me wrong I love my carpet but I always worry who he may eat next.

trying to get them to settle where you want is impossible. i just got a new green and i spent 30 minutes keeping him off my other corals. and yes they do like to eat fish .

WOW...A carpet might not be in my future then. I do not want one that will eat fish. i know the long tentacle can eat tank fish, but it is fairly rare form what i have read. What other Anemome would you recomend?

Also, my O. Clownfish has no interest in the anemome. Any suggestions on how to get him interested or what other type of clown fish will be interested in the long tentacle?

i bought 2 clowns and the anemome they were hosting in and put it in my tank NOTHING they dont even know its there. and just got the carpet and they show no intrest in that too. hopefully they will find one or the other soon.

if i read your post correctly you are using power compacts on your tank. i would strongly suggest you upgrade your lighting. i am almost certain that anemone is a color morphed Macrodactyla doreensis. it requires moderate to high light. you should, at a minimum, consider t-5's for this animal.

as for the hosting, it is an adjustment thing. my maroon pair took like 3 weeks to finally show interest in my e. quadricolor. then then became quite mean after they began hosting. the process takes time, so give it a couple of weeks. hopefully you begin to see signs at that time. and the process may take a bit longer as the primary anemonefish to host this species are a. clarkii, a. chrysogaster, a. perideraion, and a. polymnus.

and just so you know, a. ocellaris are natural hosts to h. magnifica, s. mertensii, and s. gigantea.

I would look into gettin a BTA, they wont cause you as many issues with eating fish, but still look awesome. Plus if you get one that really likes your tank it will split and then you can sell/give away those to friends.

In my 125 gallon, I keep several pairs of clowns: Clarki's, ocellaris, and tomato. I added 2 bubble tips and 2 long tentacled anemones. The Clarks and tomatos were in the anemones BEFORE they were out of my hands and placed were I wanted them. The Ocellaris ignore the anemones. In my 75 gallon I keep Ocellaris and tomatos, same results. Ocellaris ignore my LTA and BTA.
