Default Noisy overflow not the "standpipe I think."

    All,

I'm plumbing my 65 gallon aquarium and I installed a Durso Standpipe into the overflow chamber. The standpipe does it's job and the noise level from the aquarium is very quiet. My issue is now where the water runs into my sump. It's very noisy. I am using 1" spa flex tubing for my plumbing underneath the tank. If I put the end of the hose 2" under the water I get a horrible gurgling sound. If I place it above the water, I can hear a rushing of air into that tube.

Is this an issue of my standpipe? Or is the issue with my return plumbing? Anyone have any ideas?

Install another Durso standpipe to the drain line too, that would eliminate the noise.
Reefing is just like cooking, all the ingredients have to be just right , except you don't have to bring the water to a BOIL...

You mean something like this? The blue line is the water from the overflow. Since the spa flex is 1", should I use 1 1/2" pipes for the reverse durso?

Yes, just like that. You can even cap the top open end with a drilled hole and place a 1/4" plastic tube inside the T (pass the elbow w/ around 6" sticking out.)
