Default Reef Crystals = very high alk?

I just started using this stuff about a month now noticed some corals loosing color and bleaching. tested out the water and noticed my alk is 15 dkh right out of the bucket! I tested it 2 times wondering is anyone has this problem? I might have a bad batch?
