    Default Tank moving recommendations?

OK, I just bought a new 125 gallon tank setup from Ross and Eve (Pennies2cents). I am thinking about building a new stand and canopy to make some improvements.

I would like the stand 3-4 inches taller so that I can access the 55 galllon tank I am using as a refugium. The clearance below the tank now is too little to do any work in the refugium. Also, I would like to make a hinge-fronted canopy that I could raise the front for easy access (it has removable panels now) and also have the entire canopy be able to hinge up with the light fixture on it when I need to add or remove big items.

Here is the question. The tank is set up and has fish, live rock and corals in it now, has built-in returns that are in the bottom of the tank and is plumbed to the refugium below. The 55 gallon refugium cannot be removed until the 125 tank above it is off the stand, it lifts out thru the top of the stand. How would I go about moving the two tanks to a new stand easiest? The only way I see is to have several 55 gallon plastic trash cans to hold the tank and refugium's water and about 8 people. Some to lift and hold the 125 while others lift and hold the 55 gallon and then yet more people to change the stands out. Now, if the new stand is not a perfect fit, everything has to go back until modifications are made to the stand.

Just trying to get ideas before I start this project (or may not start if the solution is too hard).

Grab the MAAST cart and place the display on it. Then you can mess with the new stand and sump first. Then you can slide the display onto the new stand right off the cart.

As for the livestock, 55g trash cans works, or a kiddie pool if you have a lot of livestock. Keep as much water from the move. Also have at least 25% of your system's volume in RO/DI on standby for a quick water change if needed. Make sure your livestock will not be stored in a place that will get too hot. If you are planning on doing the transfer in a day or two, you will not have to worry about setting up temp lights.

It also wouldn't hurt to have a couple of replacement PVC fittings and bulkheads just incase you got to do some quick plumbing mods or fixes.

Lots of towels, pizza, and beer.

    Hey Mike,

Get the Maast Cart.. We have it. It worked out tremendously when we moved our 240 into the house there was only 4 of us. To where at Seamonkey's house there were 8 or 9 see pics. There is also a thread about the Maast Cart too.. And Lone Star has said the exact words I was thinking. It shouldnt be too hard. Call us if you have any questions.

    Just a small tank...

im pretty sure eve and ross can give you some good ideas on how to move it lol and you will only need like 3 or 4 helpers if you use the maast cart, ask eve if she still has the cart, everything lonestar said is right, also some air pumps and stones will help if you gotta store stuff and some powerheads, i have a rubbermaid 65g storage bin its about 3 feet long you can fill about half way 8-10inches you can borrow
