hello all,
My question is quick.
I am changing out chillers and need input on what size pump to use.
First off, my net water volume is 60G. I have been using a 1/4 Hp chiller that is a bit on the big side and alittle loud to be in the living room of my house. So i have already gotten a new chiller that is smaller, more sezy and not as loud. (makes the wife happy)
But i dont know what size pump to use on it.
The chiller i got is the AquaEuroUSA Mighty Pro 1/13 HP Aquarium Chiller For Tanks Up To 60 Gallons. I know that the flow rate is 300-500 G, but i dont know whats best for my tank.
It will be the only item on the pump, IE from the sump to the chiller and back to the sump. So maybe a total of 6 inches of head pressure.
Sending in 500G will just make the water move faster through it. I would think that the slower the water moves though it, the better the contact time would be and its would cool better. But im not sure.
I would think that if you run the water faster, it would take longer to cool down the whole tank. Thus making the chiller stay on longer.
As of right now im leaning towards the 300G pump unless yall can fill me in on something im missing.
Thank you ahead of time for any and all info yall can send my way.
V/R
Rich
