first he got his but kicked by my other maroon then i threw him in jail. im trying to pair them.

-they hate each other
-he got his butt kicked
-he does his submissive shaking towards her
-i threw him in jail

I went thru 2 males last time i paired WSMs....the 3rd finally made it, but he got beat pretty bad....I did something similar to what you did there with the container....but i alternated the fish in the container every couple of days....it took a long time...about a month before i let them stay together unsupervised......they are the most difficult to pair....however, i wish you luck

thanks, i tried again today for a while. i dont think they are ready yet

o...forgot to say..each day i would let them swim together for 30 min or so and then put one back into the container....gradually over the month long period, this release period grew longer..just make sure its supervised...it doesnt take long for her to beat him down.......

that fish in the container looks pretty big.....how big is the female? Where did you get the male from, and did you buy them at the same time? It could be that the smaller fish had already become female before you bought it, and now 2 females are establishing who is going to be the only female.....probably not the case, but just looking at the one in the pic, it looks big and it made me think of that possibility....just be patient and good luck
