Beareef, GlassCages has a 4/3/25" for just a hair under 1000... minus shipping. Really considering it. I have the stand and canopy, just need the tank along with the lights and a sump, but I'm really firm in the actual dimensions.
Texreefer, I know. I'm not in a real big hurry but my wife wants her living room back so I am relegated to the library. Since this is, I hope, my first and last relocation of the tank I figure I will hold out for that perfect purchase.
I spoke to regal yesterday as I was thinking about making the tank myself when I found out they do custom tanks. The materials are just under half a k, waiting on a quote for the work done on monday-tuesday time frame. Only problem it will be in acrylic. Not sure if I am really crazy about that, but then again I haven't heard too much negativity concerning acrylic/glass. Both have their own pros and cons.

I hate carrying huge glass tanks. Personally, acrylic would be worth it to me, as long as you don't have any crazy fish that scrape their teeth on the side (I've read about some puffers/triggers that go crazy in captivity).

To make a tank tha size out of acrylic you will need some serious bracing around the top. I have a 4'x3' tank from glass cages and love it.. I would NEVER do acrylic if you have a good glass option available

Well glasscages only has a 25 or 26" height limitation. It's heavy as heck (not that I am voting for acrylic), and despite the possibility that it is actually cheaper than acrylic it seems to have driven the cost up by shipping the thing so far. I could pick it up in Houston but it still runs me 108 bones.
All said and done it seems to run around 1200... not counting fuel.
Anyone have any experience with acrylic verses gl*****
