    Default Ripped Clam Foot

While adjusting my tank for a new inhabitant, I knocked into my clam and knocked it loose from the rock. Upon closer inspection I found that I ripped the foot off.

What can I expect from this?

more than likely you did not rip the foot off. it was probably its anchoring byssal threads. it will grow new ones and anchor itself again.

Sorry... got my clam parts mixed up. It was the anchor.

Funny thing is, I was unhappy with the location anyways. The clam moved his position and I couldn't view it. I didn't want to move it since it was anchored already.

Just had a Maxima fall off last week, and do the same thing. It was pretty stressed the first few days. Gaping and night and little mantle expansion during the day. But, it's gradually gotten better over the week, and seems fully recovered and has already anchored itself in a new position.
