    Default HELP, WORM I.D.

I was looking at the tank this afternoon and i noticed something crawling on the glass, i noticed that it was a worm about 1/2 inch long, no tentacles, no legs, just plain round and long almost like the ones used for fishing.... previously about 3-4days ago i saw a bigger one about the length of maybe 2 inch. long, but when i tunrned on the lights it quickly made its way into the rocks...this tank has been cycling for the past 2 1/2 weeks 210gal.... i used some LR that had been purchased from another maastard, and the one from my previous tanks.... i checked the levels and

It looks like a small bristle worm. You have more in your rocks maybe a lot bigger than that one on the pic. No worries there dude.

no, its not a bristle worm. bristle are color orange, flat with tentacles on the side of the body. this one is round and has a double color (light brown on one side and like color white towards the tail)... i have had them and seen them and this one is not even close to a bristle worm other than just being a worm....

I had a bristtle worm problem in the winter. Last summer some hitched a ride on a medium frag, I had problems with them attacking some prized coral and then they multiplied! Instead of using that worm exit stuff I decided to give them a temperature treatment. I loaded all my live rock into several buckets and left them out side when I knew it would drop to 40ish, not only did the worms die but they were all at the bottom of the buckets (i counted over 50)

That way you get every last sucker out of your system without an ammonia mini cycle-Live rock was fine.

A tiny bristle worm looks like a tiny bristle worm.. that is not a bristle worm in the terms that we refer to, however i'm sure it is some sort of polycheate as there are close to 10,000 different species. its a harmless part of the biodiversity of your tank
