Thread: Green water issue

    Default Green water issue

How can I stop getting green water in my tank? I have a DSA Neo 90 with a AquaC EV120 skimmer, small section in my fuge full of macro and 3-4 in dsb, two media reactors with carbon in one and phosguard in the other. I have tried doing several small water changes weekly, big water changes twice weekly, a really big water change once weekly, but I continue to have to spend 10-15 minutes cleaning my glass everyday.

I think my next step is to get a EuroReef skimmer and a UV sterilizer, but I am open to any suggestions.

I am also curious about ozone as well. If anyone is using or has used ozone, please let me know how it worked.

how long has the tank been set up?

what livestock do you have in it?

    how much are you feeding?

may be a little shallow on the sand here.

    The tank is bare bottom

I currently have about 90-100lbs liverock, sailfin tang, bristletooth tang, 2 clowns, sixline and a neon goby and about 20 different sps, a few lps and some zoas.

The refugium section of my sump is pretty small so thats why there is only 3-4 inches of sand in it.

And the tank is about 3 months old, but I upgraded from a 40 so the sand and half the rock are from my old tank.

If you are going to have that much sand I'd go ahead and get another bag and put it in. Either that or only go with a 1" for asthetics.

I get my water from a local water place called Pure Water. They have a huge RODI system and its only 35 cents per gallon.

According to my API tests, my phos and nitrate are both zero. I know that there has to be phosphates though bc of my algae.

I wouldn't trust an API kit.
