I was thinking about getting a UV Sterilizer but i have no idea if it is just a waste of money. I haven't heard anything on here so I would like to get your input on this issue.

You are likely to hear mixed reviews...I ran a 57 watt on a 215 gallon tank...I felt like it was beneficial...didn't have any problems with disease but i'm sure its not a cure all...i also quarantined live stock and slowly acclimated stuff...good luck!
I have one running on my 215. Which reminds me, it's way past time to change the bulb. I don't really think it's worthwhile, though. I won it on a MAAST raffle.

I have one and run it all the time, I think they are beneficial. But that said, I bought a Ozone maker and once its up (that maybe months) off with the UV.

I run U.V. with positive results. Ozone is much better.
We got ich from a fish we purchased at a LFS. We used a UV (along with other advice and treatments) and I believed it helped.
We run a 18watt UV on our 125gal full time now.
