I just hooked up a quiet one 4000HH pump, and it does not live up to its name. If this truely is a "quiet one" I would hate to hear a loud one.... It sounds like an air pump rattleing against a wall. Anyone else have any experience with these pumps?

I have two in my tank and they are great pumps. I've never had one fail on me. I have 6000s now and had 4000s for 4 years of continuos running with no problem. I would bet that you might have a broken impeller shaft. They are ceramic to keep the noise and heat down, but are very brittle. Undo the screw in front and CAREFULLY remove the shaft, then impeller. They are very quiet pumps. If it's new return it.

I have a 6000 and a 9000. The 6000 has been running as my return pump for years. I stop it and restart it several times a day. It has been very quiet. The 9000 is a whole nother story. It's very loud. When I got it, I found out it wasn't one of their sound-rated pumps, so I downsized to the 6000.

I've been using QO pumps for a few years now with absolutely no complaints.
Well I called Premium Aquatics, which is where I ordered the pump, and they are sending out another one. They have been really helpful....Im impressed
