I've got a PM Red Line 175 skimmer on a 140-gal mixed reef with a medium bioload. The skimmer used to pull about 1" of dark green skimmate every three days or so. However, I started dosing vodka about two weeks ago, and over the last week, the skimmer's gone nuts. No matter how I seem to adjust it, the skimmer runs ultra-wet and fills the collection cup with very lightly-tinted water in just a few hours. If I adjust the bubble column all the way down to the bottom of the skimmer neck, it will still fill the cup with mostly-clear water within six hours or so.
Anybody have suggestions as to what's going on and how to get the skimmer to run drier?
