    Default Float switch

Anyone have experience with a reliable float switch to control a freshwater top off pump. I have tried two of the "ebay specials" and both have failed.

I built my entire system including overflow box, refugium, sump, protein skimmer, and top off. It is pretty simple assuming you get a float switch that doesn't crap out on you.

The float switches you bought off of ebay are prolly the same I buy. You need to hook them up to a relay and they will do fine.

Thanks for the offer bstreep. I need to put in the relay. I was trying to be lazy and get away with not having one. I guess thats what you get for trying to be an electrician without knowing enough. Live and learn! Thanks for the link dustin21.

I was being sarcastic - it lasted all of a year. I thought it was the float switches, but they are fine.

Oh, yeah, you NEED the relay. Running 110v into a float switch = bad idea.
