New guy from Houston
New guy here just wanting to introduce myself.
Name's Steve
. hah.
Anyways my experience is 20L tank with 5" sand bed, HOB coralife skimmer, 2 Koralia 1 PH's and chaeto in a soap dish, open top with DIY 70w MH. Tank was pretty crowded with equipment and water evaporated fast! oh yeah, also ~25# live rock
Stock was 3 dwarf blue legged hermits, 3 turbo snails (one decided to clean my green w/purple rim monti), a mis-barred ocellaris clown that hosted some caulerpa
, and a blue-green chromis who swam with the clown.
Coral was, stag horn, pink monti, green w/purple monti, blue tipped stag, crocea clam.
everything was doing healthy, then ike came and i lost power for 2.5 weeks. week 1 everythign was doing fine with a battery operated air pump, around week 1.75 i moved everything to my girlfriends place which had power, didn't lose anything except for a emerald crab.
set up was a 10g barebottom with all the live stock from above in it. shortly sold it due to maintenance issues of a SPS tank with so little volume and having the fish tank not at home so I couldn't watch the parameters everyday.
New tank is going to be a 75g system. closed loop, sump, t5ho maybe with led's for shimmer, 1" sand bed, 60# live rock, sps (with lots of grow out room so there will be no overcrowding), patch reef. not sure on the fish, recommendations? i was thinking yellow tang, 2 ocellaris clowns, maybe 7 chromis. or yellow tang, and wrasses. not sure yet, still doing research.

hmm all about fish... nope. will check it out if i get the chance. i'm on the southside and hobby is southeast so it shouldn't be too bad.
update on the 75g. rock cycled in tub, filled tank and put rock in. going to do plumbing this weekend before finals, or what's probably best is to do it after finals.
