Angry SICCE PUMP HARD TO RESTART

Have 2 Sicce pump PSK 2500 on my Octopus Extreme, but one of the two is hard to restart. I don't want to blow on it everytime to get it going. I even took it out and let it ran in water/vinegar for awhile, but still acted the same. Anybody out there have the same problem? Any suggestion would be great...THANKS..

1 of 2 things you can try:

    1. Make sure your mesh is neat & tidy and not too big. Had to trim mine even the way it came from the factory. Too much may cause resistance.

    2. Make sure the connection piece the air tube connects to the pump is not pushed in too far. It should not extend into the impeller chamber.

Mine has the same problem but on the 200 extreme. I'm not running the mesh mod just the regular needle wheel impeller. I've gotten to where I just lower the water level using the adjustment when doing water changes etc. until done then bring back up to where it needs to be.

I am running with needle wheel impeller too. It would restart (with vibration) but no bubble until i blew in the airtube. This ussually happens when power outrage or unplug to do maintanence .

Maybe the reducer is in too far. Check and see if the two pumps are close to the outside where they go in.

I am running the mesh mod but agree with Cliff. I do not turn it off during any maintenance.

UPDATE.. changed out the needle wheel impeller for the yellow 3 blades impeller. Noisy and less bubbles then the needle wheel but atleast it's working now.

    Hi,

Had this issue on my old MSX 250 skimmer...any imballance will also cause what you are seeing. Check the red rubber piece that centers the impeller shaft, then make sure the cavity that the impeller shaft slides in is still round. I had a issue where the rubber boot got damages and the shaft caused the cavity to be oval shaped both along the shaft cavity and the area where the reb rubber boot rest's at. I had to replace the impeller/magnet section and find a piece to fit where the red boot goes so that the shaft remains centered. I finally got tired of fighting with repeated restat issues with the skimmer and sold it.

    Cheers,
