I put a rio 1700 in my 24G and it works great. You just have to get creative with the flow and adjust it around until it is just right. I also didn't see an increase in temps with the addition of the bigger pump.

i have two nano power heads in my 14g biocube, flow really depends on the coral you have and how your rock is set up. just watch your tank a lot and you will find what works best
