Thread: Will 2 part epoxy work or do I need Weldon 40?

  1. #1

Question Will 2 part epoxy work or do I need Weldon 40?

The inlet pipe on my denitrifier leaks. It is leaking where the pipe mates to the lid of the denitrifier. I have tried Weldon 16 around the pipe without success.

Would it be safe/practical to use regular two part epoxy or do I need to bite the bullet and order Weldon 40?

    Thanks for the advice.

I have a midwest denitrifer that leaked in the same place and they sent me a new pipe for free. while I was waiting for the new piece I siliconed the outside of the joint and it worked

ed, try putting some clear medium pvc cement on the pvc and weldon 16 on the acrylic and mix the two where the pieces join. wont be pretty, but it may work.

    Thanks for the responses.

    So the Epoxy won't work?

Guess I'll try the pvc cement/Weldon 16 and see what happens.

The last time I needed a part from Midwest, it took weeks. Really don't want to wait.

I'd try that first. You really need to chemically bond the two materials together to get a good, strong hold. All epoxy and super gule will do is just bond the materials on the outside surface, which could break loose in the future.

If it were me, I'd go with the weld on #40 as I know it would do the job the first time. Doesn't look like anyone has some on the board right now, so you may have the bite the bullet and order some online. I don't believe a lot of stores carry it due to the shelf life of the product.
