Thread: Smelly SPS

    Default Smelly SPS

After reading the tread about Barry's tanks crash it kinda got me thinking. When I touch my sps to move them around on the frag rack, my hand smells like a rotten egg. I have to thoroughly scrub my hand to get rid of the smell. The water itself does not smell though. Is that just a reaction sps has as a defense mechanism?

I always think they tend to smell like raw oysters myself. Then again I can't stand oysters so could be what you are talking about.

Rotten egg smell isn't good - they should smell like fresh shellfish. Some people like the smell, others don't.

A GREAT tip for smells on your hands (garlic, onion, fish, etc.): run cool water over your hands while rubbing them on a stainless steel sink. I know, it sounds nuts. But it works - I read it a few years ago in Consumer Reports.

I hate the smell of raw oysters too...but love the way they taste for some reason. LOL.

    Thanks for the tip Bill.
