    wow that's pretty cool brian.

but, that leaves us with 1604 active members. yeah we really got to boost those numbers. i think that maybe we should make group buys for charter only. i think that would be one major incentive. especially with the deals mrsbigbird has been putting together.

and i do have to concur on the 'no real benefit' aspect. i personally paid my dues to support the group that has helped me learn everything i know of maintaining my lil' ocean. but i can also see that of the two or three forums that are charter only, i don't utilize any of them. i do peruse the photo threads, but i have no skill in taking photos-yet. as for the charter sales, well we need to work on those threads. actually i don't remember which other forums were charter only.

Alright I'm going to throw my two cents in here. First, why haven't I paid my dues? Well, I wasn't active for about a year and I just forgot. Then I came back and saw all the new changes and I was a little upset. You took my avatar away, I can't post "nice pics Ace" in the photography forum, and I can't ask questions in the Pay it Forward forum among other things. Before anyone says it, yes I know I can have all of that back if I pay my dues. When I first found this site it was a huge help to me and I felt I need to contribute. Of course that was when all the forums were open to everyone and everything was free. That's what was so cool about this site and that's why I paid my dues; I felt like I owed MAAST something. Now I don't. If I paid my dues now I would feel like I'm paying for access rather than donating to help the organization. I feel that you expect me to pay and if I don't you will restrict me from certain areas/functions and take my drunken clam away. My suggestion is to keep everything free and open and let the people feel like they owe MAAST.

I do want my drunken clam avatar back but I'm not paying for it.

I agree with both Cbianco and MattK. I do feel like I owe everyone here for all of the help I've been getting, and for letting me use everything on this site. Nothing tangable is needed, its simple, if you are truely into this hobby, 25 is NOTHING! Thats what like 4 pounds of live rock of you think about it that way?! I will be paying the 25 100% as soon as I can get a job, it would be well worth it to me to be able to join the pay it forward frag program, attend meetings, events, and everything else. Thanks to everyone on this site for all the help so far!!

    I'm back

Well I run a lot of large forums. If you want members to come back then remind them to come back with a monthly email newsletter or bi-monthly emails to inactive members saying HEY WE MISS YOU.... this will get the active number of users back up then you can always end the newsletter with benifits of being a charter member to help boost subscriptions. It is also very easy to setup a paypal link to make becoming a charter member very easy. Here is my last idea make a paypal subscription link that auto renews every 12 months. If mine auto renewed every 12 months I wouldn't of cared.

just my 2 or 3 cents.... worth

yeah we are working on setting up a direct paypal link for memberships and other things like for prepaying for events and stuff.

and no, there hasn't been a boost in memberships since i started this thread. i was just doing it to try and figure out things we could do to get to that point.
