I'm setting up a 45 gallon tank and about 20 gallon sump? Or 30 not sure. Might be less. Its a oceanic reef ready sump model 1. What skimmer do you recommend for this tank? Hopefully to be a sps dominant tank.

Looking for an in sump or HOB? I didn't have enough space on my sump for an in sump model but I bought a BH-1000 Octopus skimmer (its the one with needle wheel pump, the bh-100-300 are pumps) to hang on my sump and love it. If you have room in your sump the 4" model would be enough. Aqua Cave has great prices on them and free shipping on 175.00 orders.
i-tech skimmer or MSX160-- might be overkill but if youre keeping SPS youll need clean water, and im not sure how your bioload is or how much you feed either:

I am not in the market of skimmer for a very long time so very rusty about the new advances in skimmer technology. I am looking for a skimmer for my 58 g Oceanic RR tank also. Any suggestion would be great. Anything to stay away form would even be better (bad personal experience only please)
BTW, I am reasonable in term of modifications and tuning to get the best performance from a piece of equipment.
Thanks a million
Minh
Any more suggestions? I don't think I should skip out on a good skimmer.
I use an Aqua C Urchin Skimmer on my Neo Nano and the Pro Version on my 200.

People here on MAAST usually sell them used for less than $100, simple plug and play, no adjusting last forever
without a doubt, euroreef rs-80
2 words - Bubble King. I just bought one for my 185 and it is pretty darn good skimmer but was also pretty darn expensive so a used one if you can find one. It is almost silent. Maybe a BK Mini 160 or 180 for that sized tank. I agree if you are keeping SPS you need a really good skimmer.
If that is a little out of the price range, there are usually Euro-reefs for sale used that will do a good job.
Well for now I had to settle with a PM red line 100 meanwhile, is that any good?
I agree with Tony, euro-reef rs-80 but i see that you went with a pm red line. Is that a precision marine? If so, precision marine built very good skimmers for a very long time. I am sure it will be a good one
