Need External Pump

i am looking for an external pump that pushes 1500-2000gph. anyone got one for sale cheap? ready to buy. let me know.

really like the velocity t4 and mag18, but any in that range will do.

In your 40 gallon??? WOW! Keep in mind that both of those pumps will add a substantial amount of heat to your water. The Velocity T4 espesially. Velocity pumps are super quiet, but hotter that almost any external pump. You should probably look for a chiller too. Little Giant makes a good pump to.

yeah 2k gph at 4 ft head would only give between 1750-1800 gph actual depending on model. that only equates to a max t.o. of 45x. with the scwd that should give some nice flow. and my return is only a mag5 so not much coming from that end.

thanks bill, but at 2300+ gph, that is a bit much for my tank. i would need 8-10 ft head just to get it to the right gph i want. if i can't find another one i will definitely be giving you a call.

if this is for your closed loop, there is almost no head pressure.

i am planning on placing the pump in the stand on the bottom. the loop is going up over the tank, similar to bigbird's return setup. that is 4 ft bottom to top, do i not have to figure that in? if not then i can probably shoot for a smaller pump.

I think I have a T4 laying around the house somewhere? I will look tonight and if I find it I will let you know. You can try it at no cost and if it works for you $50?. My nephew is coming home next weekend so i can give it to him since he goes to A&M at Corpus.

no, because the pump because the water level in the display tank (where the pump intake draws from) is the same as where the pump output is.

Yup, Ace is right (imagine that...). If you are going directly from the display, back to the display, your total head pressure is just the amount your return is above the water - an inch or 2.
