    Default LTA

Just brought home a new LTA (very large) I have had him for two days and he has not attached to a rock or anchored in the sand. He also is not moving around as if he was looking for that special spot. The first day he seemed to be doing great and upright, and now his based is exposed and kinda just hanging out somewhat sideways. He does still look okay but I am suprised to see him just laying there not anchored to anything Is this normal behavior? I did see a little bit of discharge from is mouth (not sure what his mouth is called sorry). Is that normal? Thanks in advance.

Anemones require established tanks...I would not add one unless the tank has been established for longer than 6 months.

    What's your parameters?
    Lighting?
    Tank size?
    Flow?
    Refugium?
    Live rock?

Maybe you need to turn the pumps off, place him where you want him give hime 30 minutes to attatch and then turn the pumps back on.

The stuff coming from his mouth is probably waste. It comes out the same way it enters...GROSS!

90 gal bow front, 100lb live rock, t5 ho lighting. I have turned off my power heads reduce the flow so that it is not pushing him around. I do have a GBTA that has been doing great.

The GBTA could be stinging it. It's not recommended to mix anemones, though a lot of people do it with no ill effects.

I have 2 GBTA's and I have had trouble in the past with adding different kinds.

They are on seperate sides of the tank. Although the BTA was stinging a ricordea that choose to split and move.

I put a beautiful purple LTA in my tank and he was dead in the matter of a couple days. I think he may have been stressed from recently being moved into the fish stores tank, then mine.

My husband seems to think that some of the fish were messing with it and stressed it out. I don't see that happening because they would have been stung and killed...so I nicely disagreed with him.

My tank is pretty established with a nice Sebae that's been in there for while. It crashed at one point and I lost a lot, but the Sebae stayed nice and healthy. My BTA didn't though. It's been a while since that happened and I've got acros growing now so I figured it would be a good time to try that purple LTA...and man was it pretty. I was pretty bummed when it didn't make it. I may try to order a purple Sebae.

Good luck with yours. If you notice it's insides coming out (kind of looks like a mushroom if you injure it, then it's probably dying.

Well, I'm out of ideas. Maybe it's just one of those things...like Dee's!

    Good luck man!
