My Octo Extreme 300 would goes crazy (skimming wet) once in awhile and then working fine again. Twice in the last month. What are some of the causes for skimmer to going crazy?

Reefing is just like cooking, all the ingredients have to be just right , except you don't have to bring the water to a BOIL...

Same here, but I have a Nautilus TE skimmer. I've noticed that fluctuation in water levels seem to affect it. Sorry, that's all I have....

if its an in sump skimmer...the water levels definitely affect skimmer performance...also if its a venturi type skimmer its a good idea to run some warm ro water through the air tubing to prevent salt build up...other than that maybe it still needs to break in????

Have u added any red slime remover? That will cause your skimmer to go into overdrive and skim very wet.
