    Default lighting question

if i added a flourecent spiral bulb to my tank with the existing pc light will it be beneficial at all, if not do they sell any bulbs i can use that fit in a regular lamp socket. i made a light fixture out of 2 sockets and an extension cord and i just want to know if it will help, hurt, or do nothing to my tank?

First off, there are others who can / hopefully will explain this better than I can. If you put lighting over your tank that is in the wrong spectrum or temp, it will encourage the growth of the wrong kinds of nuisance algae. So, the answer to your question lies in what bulb you put in the socket. Probably aren't going to find the right heat spectrum of bulb available for that socket.

look at the lfs for a 50/50 bulb I think its like 13 watts and it will fit in the socket u want to use. better yet go to walmart and buy a clip on spot light to be sure u don't start a fire.
