How old is the roof? You shouldn't lose shingles on a roof without a pretty decent storm/blow. Did you buy the house - I'm assuming so - if so, what did the inspector say about the roof?
As noted above, if your roof is more than say 10 years old and you are losing shingles, it's probably better to do the whole roof.
The roof is only about 2yrs old and I've seen 2 shingles in our yard (assuming they are ours). The inspector said the only thing wrong with the roof is that some of the nails were exposed and should be sealed to avoid leaking from rain, so I would want that fixed also. We have had some REALLY strong winds around here, enough to blow my heavy gas grill over (twice). Our property backs up to a huge pasture so we have no protection blocking us from winds.
