    Default What is this?

Can you help ID this white tubular growth? If its not harmful I plan to leave it there but I would like to keep it under control, can I use a pair of sharp scissors to trim it?

I have lots of that growing in my tank. It's harmless, but sometimes will grow onto other corals. I haven't seen it damage anything. It's really easy to pull or break off, and any pieces that float away will start growing somewhere else.

I would leave it! I think its cool. It adds a very "real" look to your tank.

If you do keep in the water. Some sponges will die if you take them out of water. Something to do with the chambers in their body, or so I've heard.
