    Default ATT problems....

Okay guys I need some help. After having problems with my ATT phone/DSL service since Oct, I'm about to cut them loose! I will be disconnecting my home phone and going just with my cell but I need to find another internet server. I need high speed and would like to go satellite....any suggestions? I'm so disgusted with ATT!!!!

High speed and satellite is oxymoronic.

Realistically, your only other choice is your cable company.

We have Dish Network and ATT and have to say we have had it for 2yrs and are very happy, great customer service in my area. With that said it could just be your local ATT office that is giving you problems.

We can't get cable where we are so it's either ATT or satellite. My local office is the problem! Since Oct 22 I've lost service 7 times. The lost dial tone can last from a few hours up to a few days. I made numerous requests to talk to a local manager and they won't return the calls. I'm not being unreasonable...I just want reliable phone/DSL service and a local number to call when I have problems so I don't need to explain the whole situation every time I call, which has been about once a week!

Call them from a different number, and have them call you back on a different number. That way they won't know whom is calling, and they won't have their notes right in front of them. Bill is right though, satellite is slow, but if you can't get a dial tone on your phone, what other choice do you really have? I would try to stress to the phone company that your landline and internet are crucial for you to work. Tell them you can't send faxes half the time.
    That's a bad predicament.

Yeah it sucks! I was told by a supervisor yesterday that there was nothing else that I could do and that they could do nothing to help me. So now I'm stuck paying for a service that most of the time doesn't work!

I've heard satellite is slow and very expensive. I've had two issues with my AT&T line, but they have always been helpful in fixing it. Last time they found the wiring in the box in the back yard had corroded. People could call me, but I couldn't call out. Also had a time where my phone wouldn't work but I could connect on the internet on DSL. One repair guy said that's impossible. But they did something to get it working again after that.

As for your local guys, they should offer the same customer service that any other local office would. Only issue would be if they trouble shooted it and they think it is something with the wiring in your house. Once they decide it's on your end, they usually won't service anything from their panel to anything inside your home unless you pay extra for it. ATT generally isn't responsible for the wiring done past their patch panels inside homes.

Could try that or Sprint, but if he's in an area that doesn't even get cable, it probably means he's in a remote area so it could mean not the best of signals for a wireless card. Even in some urban cities/areas I can't get a decent signal for my Sprint card, it reverts to regular wireless phone connection and it's like using dial-up internet at best.
