55 gallon tank
I went to two stores today and was not able to get a price. One store was closed and the other didn't have one. How much does a new 55 gallon tank go for on average?

I have a used one that I got for $50 recently. I was going to use it as a frag tank, but now I want to use it for a fresh tank. It has a few scratches and a black background. I was thinking I want to try raising discus in a bb tank. If I did that I would want a new tank that I can paint a lighter color.

I suppose I could. My feeling is that if a new tank was cheap enough I would just go that route. That way I would have a new tank to match my new canopy. The only part that would be used is the stand, but it cleaned up nicely.

According to simplydiscus.com I can grow out 6 discus in a tank that size. I just need to keep it bare bottom.

You can had discus in a 55g for a while. Much like angel fish they grow very very slow. I was into cichlids for at least a decade before moving over to salt and do miss it from time to time.
JC there is a local cichlid club here that I was a member of. Very cool people
