I accidently unplugged (stepped on the cord) the connection from bulb to ballast. Now the light won't come on. Any thoughts?

Did it turn back on yet?
On metal halides, they will not turn on instantly right after they were just turned 'off'. The lamp has to cool down for a period of time before it re-fires back up.
If that's not the case, make sure all the pins of the connector on cord are lining up with the connector port on the ballast. One may have bent over to the side and may not be making contact.....
If the ballast is electronic you might of fried your ballast? Electronic ballast do not take the arc fault created when there is a sudden break. Sometimes you have to unplug everything for ten minutes and then try again. Hopefully the ten minute break works.
Many ballasts also have a fuse in them...
