    Default skimmer ACTING UP

    after doing a water change tonight,my skimmers collection cup keeps on filling up with water.theirs plenty bubbles in the chamber,but its just filling up the collection cup in like two seconds.its adjusted at its lowest.and the airaider is clean. anyone have any ideas why its doing this?

    Checkto see if there's some kind of obstruction from the drain of the skimmer - like it's pushing against the sump, etc.

    Clone my skimmer starting doing this last week after making some aquarium changes and doing about a 25% water change. Its still acting the way yours is a week later. The only thing I could do to help was put some filter material on the pump intake to slow it down and it works, but when I take it off it still fills the cup in seconds (actually pops the top off). So Im leaving the filter material on the intake untill it breaks itself back in, however long it takes.

    Well I take that back after running it a week with the filtermesh on the intake I removed it a little earlier and its working normal now.

    ok tryed everything and the only thing that would work was Rays method.So in that case thanks Ray ill keep an eye on it for a couple days and see how it does.

    hey ray its back to normal.
    came home awhile ago and was doing my regular checks per day and found it to be very low,so took out the spong and its been pumping out some nasty stuff.

    sweet, glad to hear. Once mine starting working normally it hasnt stopped pulling dark crud out.
