What should the minimum diameter be for the intake side of an 1100gph pressure rated pump? Im using the clear, flexible nylon 1" tubing now and its collapsing the heck out of it seriously restricting the input to my Beckett. I recently replaced the impeller on the pump so this may just be the result of the pump working the way its supposed to. I may need to hard plumb it or get a smaller pump.

i think you will need to hard plumb it since it is the intake side and it is pulling the water up and over the side of the tank (assuming this is the skimmer i built you and you havent changed the way it was set up)

I wouldn't go narrower than the intake diameter of the pump. For a pressure rated pump, I would only go with hard plumbing due to the problem you stated! Thats what you get for giving it a good cleaning and replacing the impeller haha

Are you limited to flexible plumbing for your setup? Spa Flex might be a in-between solution, but if space is limited, it can be a pain the butt to bend in tight spots.

Im gonna go to Lowes today and check out the spa-flex, if that works, cool, if not, Ill have to hard plumb it. Yeah, next time Ill know better than to clean and repair the pump! Unreal how much force these pressure pumps can create.

Try and find that food grade tubing, it has the mesh inside the tube and it's made for pressure rated stuff, if I am not mistaken.

Spa flex will work, but you're still gonna need elbows and stuff for the tight corners because it's pretty stiff. It won't collapse on you like that flex tubing though.

Spa flex seems to be working, for some reason Ive lost about half of my bubbles, gonna have to look at the Becket chamber closer, should be skimming like a monster!

you can get one in a pond fountain kit at lowes - in the garden area. what is wrong with yours?

Not sure to tell ya the truth, I just want to try another one just to see if it makes any difference. I have the pump working on its own in a bucket of water and it seems to be working just fine,. Ill probably mock up the skimmer out in the garage to see if I can find out exactly why the bubble production is reduced... Thanks for the info.
