Sometimes I question how miraculous this really is. A lot of animals in nature can surprise in similar ways. Many tortoises only need to mate once every few years but have the ability to provide viable off spring year after year. Seems the female is able to store the male's semen alive for about 5 years. When I had a kangaroo, I'd amaze people with the stories about how the females get pregnant about halfway through another term. Seems that when the developing joey gets a few months along the mother will get knocked up again. That fetus continues to develop until about a month along. She will give a normal birth to initial joey and then the gestation will begin anew in the stagnant fetus. Once that fetal joey is back up to speed, she will then get knocked up again. Basically she always has 2 joey fetuses within her at different stages of development. Times can be harsh down there and it is the only way to guarantee survival. So yeah the concept of "miraculous" birth is benign to me.
