    Default Has anyone tried the Reef Octopus PRO series skimmers yet?

    I'm looking to get one of the Reef Octopus PRO 300 S Needle Wheel Protein Skimmers, has anyone tried one of these yet?

    Octopus PRO-300S Specifications:

    - For In-Sump use only
    - Recommended for tanks up to 300 gallons.

    Dimensions:
    - Overall Height: 22"
    - Reactor Diameter: 8"
    - Neck Diameter: 5"
    - Needle Wheel Pumps: 2 x Sicce PSK-2500 Pumps, made in Italy.
    - Footprint: 10.5"x14.5"

    Many of us run Octopus skimmers but I dont think any of ours are the pro series. Looks very promising and well built.

    I run a NW-150, but I'm wanting to upgrade, I'm very happy w/ my NW, but I'm sure I this one can do better, I was jsut wondering if anyone had expirience w/ one of these.

    There is a thread on RC for the PRO skimmer, but i am using the Extreme 300 and like it so far.
    Reefing is just like cooking, all the ingredients have to be just right , except you don't have to bring the water to a BOIL...

    300, the cheaper version.
    Reefing is just like cooking, all the ingredients have to be just right , except you don't have to bring the water to a BOIL...

    I'm running a MSX 250 from Marine Solutions on my 215 gallon reef ($399). Have been very happy with it. The skimmer runs dual Sicci pumps and has a 10" body. It can also use a mesh wheel or optional pin wheel. It is rated up to 315 gallons heavily stocked:
