Thread: black volitan lionfish

    Default black volitan lionfish

i have a black volitan lionfish that is around 5-6 inches. he's getting to large for my 100 gal reef, so i'm looking to either trade him for another lion that is small or to sell him for $40 or best offer. he's very healthy and loves to eat. the only reason we are wanting to get rid of him is because of his size. at times he's almost completely black, other times he's lighter. i have pictures of both stages. i got him in feb when he was about 3-4".

i'm located in killeen, but on oct 9 my husband could meet on the north side of austin in the hospital parking lot (the one close to rca) between 750-810 am. he has an appointment at 820 so it would have to be those times or the lion would end up sitting in our jeep. sorry, shipping is not avalible.

sorry about the picture quality. i don't have a very good camera, but at least you can get an idea of what he looks like. if you want to see more pictures just let me know and i'll try to get you some better ones. thanks for looking.

Not sure how you got a lionfish in a reef setup?

he picks off my small hermits, but doesn't bother my larger blue leg hermits. i haven't seen him bother anything else. of course he ate my small damsels i had, but i didn't mind that so much. i have o.clowns and scooter blennies in my tank, he doesn't bother them at all.

Wow i was thinking on getting a fuzzy dwarf but have a baby cleaner shrimp.
Once he grows i will probably give the lion a whirl!

you may want to watch a lion with shrimp. i get ghost shrimp for food for all my fish, and the lion sure goes for those, but so do my clowns.

we are also wanting to set up another smaller tank (under 50 gal) preferable a bowfront or odd shaped tank. we would consider a trade/partial trade for some of the equipment as well. we want to make it a pipefish/seahorse tank, so we want to get high quality equipment.
