KXAN (NBC) no longer on Time Warner as of 10/2/08!!!

Pretty crazy news. Time Warner's contract with NBC KXAN in Austin, TX expires on October 2, 2008 and may possibly go months without being able to broadcast it. Check it out at http://www.kxan.com/Global/story.asp...4&nav=0s3dPeyg.

It happened to Suddenlink as well. I think they lost ABC for a while.

What is going on with time warner? Are they going to continue fighting with the nfl this year also? If my cable bill wasn't so low I would have switched already.

Theres always the antenna option. I get great HD signals over the air on my tv. Of course I have the built in digital tuner, but if you don't have one by now....you only got a few months before you need one

Yeah, the deal with losing KSAT (ABC) in SA is still possible. Some dirty tactics going on with that fight. KSAT originaly posted on their broadcasts the direct office phone numbers to the big bosses at TWC for viewers to call and complain. They got swamped and said KSAT was using high school antics. Then TWC started lieing and telling callers that they had a new deal signed with KSAT even though the don't just to get people to stop calling!

AT& T put lines in over a year ago. STILL don't have Uverse, and AT&T won't tell me when they will. So, we signed up with TW for another 2 years. Got 1.5 left...

It doesn't have anything to do with the NFL. Each cable or satellite provider has to negotiate a contract with each channel so that they have the right to broadcast that channel on their service. Time Warner probably just refused to pay the amount of money that KXAN was requesting so they are just aren't going to show that channel.

I think they will come to some sort of aggreement. There is no way KXAN will give up the money from ad sponsorship. They will be cutting out a huge portion of their viewing audience by doing that. No viewers=no money.
