    I got a 200 gal build, i want to use black sand if i put normal sand on the bottom for the buffering then put the black sand on top will it still buffer correctly?

    Yes, but when you go to maintence your sand bed will get them mixed up.

    you could do a shallow black sand bed in the tank and put aragonite sand in the fuge.

    Argonite sand does not act as a buffer until the sand bed is deep enough for the bottom layer of sand to become anerobic.
