    I am looking at the quikrete play sand at home depot for my tank as a lower layer does anyone know if it contains silica the product number is 1113 please let me know

    You can always do the vinegar test. Pour some vinegar on the sand and if it fizzes, its aragonite based. If not, more than likely silica based.

    Be careful using two different grains of sand in your display tank. The smaller grains will sift to the bottom and the larger to the top, causing a very visible effect. It bugged us, but it might be fine for you.

    EXACTLY!

    Same thing in my tank now is driving me crazy. I want to just replace all my sand.
