    Default Advice on powerhead placement

    Hey, there!

I just picked up two Koralia 4s to boost the flow in my tank, and I'm looking for advice from those wiser than I on how best to utilize them. My tank is 72" x 18" x 24" (lwh), with a mag 9 on the sump return at the upper right side of the tank. I also have a snapper driving a closed loop that runs through two SCWDs controlling four outlets scattered across the tank's bottom. My rock is laid out in sort of a "V" pattern - high on the sides and low in the middle. What's your advice on the best placement of the two Koralias and why?

    Thanks!

I have mine running along the back glass. Only one tiny portion of rock touches the back though, and it is very open. The tangs love to play in it, and they use the currents to race around the tank, chasing each other through the rockwork.

Long story short, everyone's tank is different! You will probably just have to find out what works for your tank!

I have two #3's one pointing across the back and one pointed to the front. Both are in the back corners. Tank length 48".

All a matter of preference. Just try to take care of ALL of the dead spots.

Here's an idea...Put some flakes under the water and see where they travel. If they stop somewhere...adjust your flow.
