    Question Breeding Clownfish

I was wondering if anybody here on MAAST has/is breeding clownfish, and could give me some recommendation/pointers on the process. I plan on raising the clowns in my girlfriends tank, it is a 55 gallon with 100lbs. of live rock, 3” sand bed, HOB filter, skimmer, 215watt PC's, maxijet 1200, cleaner shrimp, coral banded shrimp, and assorted mushrooms.
Her tank has little live stock in it because before her family went on vacation this summer her mom turn the a/c off causing the death of her xenia, blue tang, tomato clown, MGS clown, and small lion fish. She really loves the hobby and loves getting home from work and watching her tank so i think that this would be something nice/different for her to do.
So what else do i need to raise clownfish?
What should i remove from her tank that i already have in it?
Could other fish be in the tank also (tangs)?
I plan on buying a mated pair from Jason at AD
any advice would be great, thanks

Texreefer did this for awhile and was successful. He had an entire thread loaded with info and pics. It would be an awesome read for you.

I tried looking for it but didn't find it. Hopefully someone will chime in with the link.

Perfect timing. I was just talking to Jeremy over at BB about Texreefer and his clownfish, and how it became a pain after a while. My wife wants to breed clownfish also. Thanks Mr. Cob for the link to the earlier threads!

Hey Guys,, just thought I would share some info here.. raising clownfish is a rewarding experience but you cannot just "wing" it,, I would suggest starting by getting Joyce Wilkersons, 'Clownfishes'. this book details the process,, be prepared to spend upwards of $200 to get started depending on what supplies you already have. the mating pair can be in any sized tank that is easily accesible and with tankmates that are not threatening (larger predator types or smaller Wrasses & basslets).

you must have reliable daily supplies of phyto, rotifers and newly hatched brine. be prepared to spend about 1-2 hours daily for the first 21 days testing water, changing water, feeding and tending your cultures..

I will be happy to answer any questions and help out, however I would not try this unless you have read that book and have a firm grasp of the scope of this project, otherwise all your hard work will be in vain

Guess my wife and I are on the right track. Picked it up a few weeks back. Great and informative book.

I can't wait till my two chysopterus(blue striped clowns) start to get busy. Right now the male is still a juvenile and the female is only 3.5". I will be probably waiting a year or so, since the adult size of these fish is 6 to 7 inches.
