    Default Unusual Shipping Methods

Weird. I just received a shipment of corals that is packaged in breathable bags to facilitate oxygen exchange. I can't say I've ever received a shipment like this. Is this odd or some cutting age method of shipping?

Just to share, I once received a shipment in which each frag (coral and mounting piece) was attached with a rubberband to a chunk of styrofoam so that it would just float about during the shipping and not end up upside and mushed at the bottom of a bag.

all very common practices! Coral Dynamics uses the breathable bags,, they are water tight but allow for oxygen exchange.. styrofoam keeps the coral completely submerged during shipping and protects the coral from lying on its side or banging into the side of the bag

Very cool! So there is something beyond double bagging!

The styrofoam as a floatation device along with using black bag liners, and double bagging has been our method of shipping all along with great success. Once we run through these bags that we have left, we are swithing to breathable bags as well.
