Default Breaking siphon from RO/DI resevoir?

how do i break the siphon from my ro/di resevoir to my sump? i have a 32g brute trash can next to my 75 where i have a little mj606 hooked up to some vinyl tubing that leads to the sump. the output of the hose stays out of water in the sump, but the problem im having is once the pump starts it just keeps draining water out from the resevoir

would drilling a hole above the water line in the resevoir on the hose be enough to break the siphon?

The end of you hose needs to be higher than the water level in your reservoir.

the only way i could do that is to put the hose in the tank, like in the overflowbox. but i would think it wouldnt be really accurate with the ATO

What I did with mine (in the sump) was take a piece of 1" PVC pipe, and drill some holes in the bottom of it. I put an elbow at the top, which is ABOVE the height of my top off container, and put the hose into it. When the pump shuts off, there is no siphon in the hose, as it is above the sump. The piece of PVC allows the water to enter the sump without splashing.

I have my ATO hose zip tied to my return. Even with the slow turnover from sump to tank nothing seems to mind. With the excessive flow in the tank itself, the FW mixes rather quickly.

    Thanks Bill,

I was thinking of doing just this type of thing. You have confirmed that it works!
