Personally, I'm liking the black sand. It gives the tank a different look & feel and it seems to make the colors pop more. Because it's a black tank with a black stand, and a black wall, the black kinda ties the look together. I didn't like it when the sand was too black though. Then any bit of detritus or broken shell stood out like a sore thumb. To get the sand color in my tank I used 90% of live black sand (forgot brand, but the color is more black & white) and 10% straight black sand.
