    Default oceanic rr problem

ok. i will try to explain this the best i can. the tank in a 55 gallon oceanic reef ready with a the overflow in the back middle. here is the problem. the over flow chamber fills up with water and the drains down and makes a loud water slurp sound and then fills back up with water. you can see the old water line and the water is no were near it. this problem just started happing. the tank has been running for about 5 months now and its just started doing it. and then to make things worse the clip to hold my tunze on broke today. i'm so close to just breaking the whole thing down and giving up. and help would really help.

Sounds to me like you have a clogged pipe or air hole. Are you using Durso standpipes? If not what kind of plumbing do you have. For it just to start all of a sudden something must be clogging it.

Well, something is cause the drain pipes to not flow properly. I would take out my drainpipe and check it for clogs of something. If you have a hole drilled on the top of the pipe to quiet flow, make sure salt creep hasn't clogged the hole as well.

Most likely the hole is clogged from salt spray drying near the hole. I need to clean my vent about once a month.
