    Default ballast question

I am trying to figure out a cheap ballast that will power 2 6ft 80 watt t5 bulbs. Workhorse or advance. If you have any advice please lmk make and model please. I have 1 icecap 660 that will power 3 6ft 80 watt bulbs just need something for the other 2 bulbs.

    David,

You can use a Workhorse 7 to do what you want. They have a tool on their website to help you choose a ballast based on bulb type & wattage.

    Try this link: http://www.fulham.com/Find_Process.php

Thanks Ed. I thought a 7 might work. I will check on it now.

I'm not 100% sure but i thought i read somewhere that workhorse ballasts are not specifically designed to run t5s. more where and tear on the bulbs and less par. Stick with an advance ballast or a traid ballast.

FWIW, Fulham specifically lists T5's as an option for their Workhorse ballasts.

I have used T5's for years. The ballast that I replace most often (because of failure) is Advance. I stopped buying them and now use Workhorse. One Workhorse 7 will replace two Advance 2554s and costs only pennies more. The Workhorse is also noticably brighter and produces a color I like better. Just my two cents.

I am pretty sure F4f's life revolves around salt and freshwater. He makes his living raising endagered fish species. You don't have to hammer him with Bold letters, and coy remarks. I am sure he was just trying to give advice to the best of his knowledge.

    Lets be nice!
