Thread: Kalk Reactor w/o Calcium Reactor?

  1. #1

Default Kalk Reactor w/o Calcium Reactor?

I have heard of people with smaller tanks (90g or less)
that are able to maintain their Calcium and ALK parameters with the use of a Kalk reactor, and no Calcium reactor.
    What do you guys think?

I bet you could as long as your demand wasn't excessive. I've used a KR in combination with a CA Reactor but never alone.

    Cheers,

I totally agree with Kurt. Everything I have read states what y'all have stated.

I think it depends on your demand. Calfo says that many tanks needs can be met by the use of Kalk slurries. If you have enough evaporation and watch your pH, (dose with a pH meter), it should be possibe to come real close.

I only use a kalk reactor on my 400 - No SPS corals but lots of coraline growth. I evaporate ~ 5 gallons/day so Im pumping in alot of kalk!

Ya, once i started using Kalk i really noticed coraline build up. I also noticed that my return pumps, powerheads and skimmer had to be cleaned a lot more. MORE MAINTAINCE!!!
