    I have personally dealt with the 2 pumps you are referring to. The sedra 5000 created WAY more bubbles than the 3500. They both use the same venturi the 5000 just seems to be able to take better advantage of its design.

    Euroreef support said that the smaller Sedra outputs 4-5 lpm while the 5000 puts out 9-10 lpm. Sounds like a big enough difference to warrant the price.

    take a look at the skimmer that Jamie has in this thread

    That is a stock sedra 5000 and the body on that skimmer is 8". The bubbles are THICK.

    OMG! His entire contact chamber looks like the neck of my skimmer. That pump really shreds the air. Looks like I'll be purchasing an air flow restrictor also. Thanks for the link.

    Some people on Reef Central would put a DAS EX-3 on a 5 gallon pico. The skimmer you purchase should be relative to your feeding habbits and your current or desired bioload (how many fish you (will) have and how big they are... err how much they poo). HTH
