    Default Car Alarms

I just had my 98 chevy broken into and stole my Kenwood radio. I want to buy an alarm now for it and I don't know what brand to choose. I saw previous posts and the hands down winner is the Viper line or just about anything from Directed Electronics. Which I am seriously considering the Viper. I have found some good deals on ebay. I had a co-worker try to sell me on the K-9 brand of car alarms. I never heard of it. I know what features I want, I am having a hard time deciding what brand to choose. Before I buy something I like to do my research so I make sure it will meet my expectations. So whats your advice?

I bought a nice two-way clarion alarm from here a few years back. They are nicely priced and you get some extra features. Worth a look. http://www.asianwolf.com/ The only thing is you have to still pay someone to install it.

Clifford used to be the king of the hill, but since Directed pretty much owns everyone now, its up to your personal preference. K-9's used to be crappy and cheap but I've heard that they've gotten better over time. For the most part alarms are just a deterrent. The security is only as good as the amount of time spent to do it right. Back when I was really into things like this we used to do some pretty mean things to make sure head unit would stay in my vehicle. Or that car could never be stolen with the exception of a wrecker.

I used to install and sell DEI! Directed electronics is the only way to go! Lifetime warranty on the brain and most places if they are good will offer that on the install! I have a viper and love it!! You can upgrade it to do remote start, motion detector(LOVE MINE), windows up and down with touch of a botton and they have two way remotes that beep at you when your alarm is going off outside and your inside! You can even call a phone number to start your car from across the world if you want!! Good luck IMO go with the viper if you have the cash! unless you like buying cd players for your truck!!
