Does the bubble amount look normal inside the skimmer body? Did you clean it or the pump? Is it in a sump? Have you cleaned the airline? I am assuming you mean microbubbles by the term "white mist" correct? I used to have the CSS65, and I loved it...

i got rid of that skimmer for that exact reason, too finicky
get rid of the black sponge in the return box and replace it with a wad of filter floss and just replace it as you clean the skimmer, will work much better

How long have you had the skimmer running? Did you buy it new? I'm currently running a CSS 65 and it produced microbubbles like that for the first week or two even though I bought it used.
Have you added anything to the tank recently (large amounts of food or additives)?
One thing you'll probably want to do to the skimmer is make the input tube shorter. The closer you get the pump to the surface of the water, the better it will skim.

I replaced the white pad with the filter floss and it fixed overnight. I don't know if that was the problem, but the skimmer is fine now.
Thanks for all the advice.
